Spalt Spalter (Spalt) is a traditional German landrace variety originating from the Spalt growing region of Bavaria. One of the four classic noble German hop varieties, Spalt is prized for its fine, refined aroma and low alpha content. Like other Spalt-type hops, it is characterized by a high Farnesene content and a delicate herbal, floral, and spicy character that has made it a cornerstone of traditional German lager brewing for centuries.
