Chinook Hops
Chinook was developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) breeding program in Washington State and released in 1985. Originally introduced as a high alpha bittering variety, Chinook has since gained widespread favor in craft brewing for its distinctive and complex aroma. This cultivar takes its name from a Native American tribe indigenous to the region around Washington State, and its female parent is one of the English Goldings. Its bold pine, grapefruit, and spicy character has made it a staple of West Coast IPAs.
